Applied Acoustics Lab at Politecnico di Torino
The Applied Acoustics Laboratory includes a full-scale anechoic chamber of 144 m3 and a 1:5 scale reverberation room for the measurement of sound absorption and sound diffusion of surfaces. Particularly, acoustic materials can be fully characterized following the procedure of the standard ISO 354 for sound absorption and the standard ISO 17497-1 for sound scattering. It is also equipped with instrumentation for in-situ measurements of room and environmental acoustics, and software for the modeling of the sound field indoor and outdoor.
It also includes the Audio Space Lab (ASL), which is a sound-treated listening room equipped with a spherical 16-speaker array (+ 2 subwoofers) for 3rd-order ambisonics spatial audio reproduction and a VR headset to display the 360° visual scene synched to the reproduced audio counterpart.
